Lucy

In term4 2003, 6 Year 9 students Shane, Kristie, Luke, Rachael, Simon and Brittany were selected to attend The Alpine School for nine weeks. The Alpine School is a centre for student leadership helping students from country and metropolitan state schools develop leadership and self-confidence. Kangaroo Flat Secondary College is the only school in Bendigo that has been selected and given this fantastic chance to participate in this wonderful opportunity. The Alpine School is located in Dinner Plain near Mt Hotham about 5 hours from Bendigo.

To go to the Alpine School it has cost the team $6000! This sounds like a lot but the team worked hard to raise that money. Some of our fundraising ideas were a chocolate drive, cinema tickets at bargain prices, lunchtime band and sausage sizzle at school, wood raffle, trivia night, All Wears Night and letter drive to local businesses and organisations asking for their help.

Great support was given by the entire school community. and the team was more than thankful. The plan was to return to school during 2004 to put into place a fantastic community project to give back to the school and community that have helped us a lot already.
Thanks a lot!
